    Funky Ribbon Pillows
    Materials:

various lengths and widths of ribbons and seam binding
    sewing machine
    sewing pins
    contrasting thread
    odd buttons
2 15"x15" or 16"x16" pieces of funky fabric
    14" pillow form

    1. Lay out the fabric (the top of the pillow). Pin the ribbon detail in layers, keeping in mind that this is a funky deconstructed style of pillow. Let the ribbon extend 1" past the edges of the fabric square (figure A).

    2. Create details by weaving several ribbons over the top of the fabric (figure B). Move the ribbons around until you are happy with the placement. Pin in place; attach to the fabric by stitching through the center of each ribbon. Use decorative stitches to create additional interest (figure C).

    3. Add swirls to the pillow by pining and stitching seam binding in a loose "rose" swirl shape. Stitch in place by stitching down the center of the ribbon (figure D).

    4. Clip any excess ribbon from the edges of the pillow (figure E). Add decorative buttons or rhinestones for extra kick.

    5. To stitch the pillow, place the two pieces of fabric right sides together; pin and stitch around the outer edges of the fabric, leaving an opening for turning and stuffing. Clip the corners at a 45-degree angle (figure F).

    6. Turn the pillow right side out, pushing a finger into the corners to make them crisp (figure G).

    7. Stuff with the pillow form and hand-stitch the opening closed.
