    episode DCRJ-609

Crafters Steve Piacenza and Cathie Filian have a collection of crafts that take the blue ribbon! Picture frames, bookmarks and satin sachets get ribbon makeovers; a pillowcase gets a funky new look; and custom-made hair accessories stand head and shoulders above the competition.

Turn boring picture frames into custom canvases using simple strips of ribbon and tape.

    PHOTO

    Ribbon Photo Mat
    Materials:

    store-bought photo frame
    photo (smaller than the frame)
decorative ribbons (various sizes and colors)
    double-sided tape

    1. Attach a picture smaller than the photo frame to the center of the frame backing board; use small pieces of doubled-sided tape in each corners (figure A).

    2. Cut two pieces of ribbon the same width as the frame and two the same length. Attach the ribbons around the photo with double-sided tape, filling in the space between the photo and the frame to create a ribbon mat (figure B). If desired, layer ribbons.
