    Project designed by Josie Cirincione.

    Materials:

    heat gun
    found box for shrine
    vintage sheet music
    2 foam brushes
    gel medium
    ruler
    craft knife
    cutting mat
    pencil
color copies on cardstock of vintage photos of women (3 head shots and 1 full figure)
color copy on regular paper (2 head shots of the same man)
    label marker with black tape
    vintage optical lens
    small heart punch
    small star punch
    packing tape
    bowl of warm water
    bone folder
    paper towels
StazOn ink pad and StazOn Re-inker
    letter rubber stamps
    thin piece of wire
hand drill with small bit or anything that will punch a hold through the box.
    doll hand
    craft glue
    double-stick tape
    double-stick foam tape
    dark blue acrylic craft paint
    gold paper for stars
    red paper for stars
playing card (any heart card number 2-5)
    scissors
found paper element to add to the front of the box
page of text out of an old book.

    1. Paint the edges and the deep side of the box with dark blue paint (figure A). Allow the paint to dry, or use a paint gun to speed up this process.

    2. Cover the inside lid and the outside of the box with vintage music paper. Cut the paper to size (figure B).

    3. Apply a layer of gel medium and adhere the paper.

    4. Cut out the image of the man and add him to the front cover. For added interest, add some more paper elements to the outside of the box. After adding the elements, apply a few layers of gel medium (figure C). Set aside to dry.

    5. Cut out three rectangles from the women's headshots. Be sure to include the women's head and shoulder.

    6. With the label maker, punch out the numbers one, two, and three. Trim off excess tape around each number and glue the number to the bottom center of the images. Set aside.

    7. Cut out the full figure image of the woman and set aside.

    8. Using the optical lens as a template, cut out a circle from vintage paper (old book page). Next, punch out a red heart.

    9. Place the woman' head on the circle, and then place the heart on the woman.

    10. Using the lens as a guide, make sure the woman's head and the heart are under the lens and the layout works together.

      14. Glue the paper elements together, then apply a small amount of glue to the metal edge of the lens and adhere to the circle. Set aside.

      15. Place a strip of packing tape over the man's head and shoulders. Remove the excess paper. Burnish the tape to the image with the bone folder. Be sure there are no bubbles.

    11. Immerse the image into a bowl of warm water for a few minutes or until the paper is saturated.

    12. Remove the image from the water and start rolling the paper off the back. Rub gently until all the paper is gone.

    13. Take the transfer and stick it to a playing card, burnishing the top of the tape and trimming the excess.

    14. Use letter stamps and StazOn ink to stamp the word "liar" (or something less inflammatory) on the forehead. Set aside.

    15. Apply a few drops of StazOn ink onto the hand and rub it in and remove the excess ink with a paper towel.

    16. With the label maker punch out the words: "your heart will lead you astray." Glue the words to the arm and let dry. Set aside.

    17. Punch out some gold stars and glue them to the inside of the box.

    18. Make a hole on the top center of the box. Use a piece of wire and string it through the hole on top of the optical lens and pull both pieces out the top of the box. Leave enough length so the woman appears to be floating.

    19. Twist the wire. Cut off the excess and pull the ends apart so they sit flush on the top of the box.

    20. Apply a piece of foam tape to each of the three images of the women and arrange the images in a pleasing composition on the inside cover (figure D).

    21. Stuff a small piece of paper towel into the hollow of the arm, making the paper towel flush with the bottom.

    22. Apply the glue to the paper towel and the rim of the arm and attach to the center bottom of the inside of the box.

    23. Apply a small amount of glue to the back center of the card and stick to the hand. Make it appear as if the hand is holding the card (figure E).
