    PHOTO

Guest Lisa Shepard Stewart shows you how to attach batik fabric to a photo frame mat.
Project designed by Lisa Shepard Stewart.

    Materials:

    photo
    picture frame with mat
African batik fabric or similar (color-coordinated to photo)
1/2 yd. of HTCS Trans Web paper-backed fusible web

    African Batik Mat Frame

    1. Separate the mat from the picture frame.

    2. Cut fabric to the size of the mat, plus at least two inches all around. Apply fusible web to the wrong side of the fabric.

    3. Cut away the center of the fabric so that at least a 1" border remains around the inner edges of the mat.

    4. Center the fabric over the mat and fuse. Clip the inner corners and fold in and then fuse. Fold in the outer edges of the fabric; fuse. Fuse again from the front of the mat for a smooth, secure bond.

    5. Assemble the photo, mat and frame and then hang.
