- Use the glass as a template and trace onto the cork (figure A). Cut with scissors right inside the line you drew.
Note: You can buy pre-made cork coasters, or buy cork by the yard or roll at a hardware store. Tip: When buying glass for the coasters, have the glazier polish the edges to avoid cuts when working with the glass. - Layer the cork, the photo and then the glass. Secure the top edge with a bullnose clip (figure B).
- Cut four strips of the book tape into 4" lengths.
Note: The linen book binding tape has a nice finish, looks like linen, and has adhesive on the backside. Tip: Use a straight pin to remove the carrier sheet from the book binding tape. Just score the edge and it peels apart. - Attach a strip of tape to one side and burnish to the glass with your finger. Wrap tape around the sides and onto the cork. Repeat with opposite side (figure C).
- Remove the bullnose clip and attach the tape to the top and bottom of the glass making sure the corners are neat.
Tip: Once all the tape is on, you can take a permanent marker and doodle onto the tape to add interest.
