Tiles aren't the only way to create the look of a stunning mosaic: add a little glaze to scraps of colored paper and be prepared for amazing results.

    Materials:

    Dimensional Magic by Plaid
    découpage medium
    foam brush
cardstock scrapbook paper in multiple colors
    wood paper tray
    scissors

Note: Dimensional Magic is a clear, stay-put formula that creates faux mosaic while allowing the full color of the surface below to shine through to the surface.

    1. Cut scrapbook papers into random shapes, such as broken china or small tile squares (figure A).

    2. Using découpage medium and a foam brush, glue paper shapes to both the inside and outside of the tray, leaving a small space between each shape to simulate grout lines (figure B).

    3. Add clear dimensional paint over the paper shapes and let dry per package directions (figure C). Use a straight pin to pop any bubbles that occur (figure D).
