Project by Kathryn Perkins.Present a card with some trendy patterned papers and a nostalgic photo. The fun begins as soon as the envelope is opened. The bright pink flower peeking through the top notch beckons the recipient to slip out the invitation. The intent of the card becomes instantly clear as the photo (from younger days) and "You're Invited" message are viewed. By rotating the top layer of paper, the details of the event are revealed.

1. Trace pattern for sleeve on printed paper (see the PDF Pattern file at the right). Enlarge or reduce as desired. 2. Cut on solid lines and score/fold on dotted lines. Fold back sides and fold up bottom. Secure with rubber cement.
3. Use a 1-inch hole punch to cut a half-circle (notch) in the center top of sleeve. Cut through both layers (figure A).
4. Cut two 3-1/2" x 7" pieces of brown card stock. Set one aside.
5. Cut a 3-1/2" x 4" piece of striped paper. Use spray adhesive to glue striped paper to lower portion of one sheet of brown card stock.
6. Cut a 3-1/2" x 1/2" strip of white card stock. Stamp "You're Invited" or "Happy Birthday" across it in pink ink.
7. Glue "Happy Birthday" strip across top of striped paper, covering the seam where the two pieces meet (figure B).
8. Use 1-1/4-inch circle punch to cut photo (figure C).
9. Use 1-5/8-inch circle punch to cut pink card stock. Glue photo on pink circle and glue both on the brown part of the card (figure D).
10. On the white side of the other sheet of brown card stock, stamp the "for, date, time, place" in pink on lower half.
11. Lay the decorated brown sheet over the plain brown sheet, white sides together. Insert all in the sleeve.
12. Punch a flower out of the pink card stock (figure E).
13. Center the 1/8-inch hole punch in the notch of the patterned paper and punch a small hole through both layers.
14. Using the 1/8-inch hole punch, punch a hole in the center of the flower too.
15. Place the punched flower over the two brown pieces and insert the eyelet through all three layers (figure F). Flip over and secure eyelet with setter and hammer.
16. Insert the card in the sleeve with flower showing through the notch like a pull tab. Insert all in slim envelope.
