Project by Joy Macdonell.Create a card that can be used as a frame. Cards take a great deal of effort to make and are generally saved by the recipient. Create a card that can be hung as a forever reminder of your friendship and gratitude. Or, take a different slant and turn these little framed treasures into party favors. Party goers will always remember the special event with a memento that can be hung in their home.

Adornaments
Laura Ashley Button-Ups
Phrase Café "Give Thanks" sticker sheet
Laura Ashley blue collection printed papers, vellum
Herma adhesive
sewing machine

Paper Shapers tiny circle punch
1. Cut a piece of the Laura Ashley Palace Garden decorative paper a little smaller than the size of the card.
2. Sand the paper to give it a worn look and adhere it to the front of the card (figure A).
3. Tear a strip of Laura Ashley blue vellum and adhere it to the side of the card.
4. Cut a piece of the printed "Merci" ribbon the length of the card and attach it to the card using the black brads.
5. Sew the paper and ribbon to the front of the card using a sewing machine threaded with coordinating thread (figure B).
6. Cut an opening for a photo in any size you choose and cut a piece of overhead transparency to fit (figure C).
7. Tape the piece of transparency over the opening (from the back side) with removable tape. From the front, sew the transparency to the card.
8. Use the white card stock in the card as the backing, and sew the backing to the front of the card following the perimeter stitching already present (leave the top open). Follow the stitching around the window opening, leaving the top open.
9. Cut a piece of coordinating decorative paper and attach to the back of the card with Herma adhesive for a nice finished look.
10. Using the Paper Shapers tiny circle punch, punch holes in the top corners.
11. Tie Adornaments fibers through the holes to create the hanger for the frame (figure D).
12. Decorate the holes with Laura Ashley Button-Ups decorative buttons (figure E).
13. Cut a piece of the backing from a used 3D-Dots foam adhesive sheet to place over the fibers. Adhere the decorative buttons over the foam tape. This will give a little additional lift so that the decorative buttons will stay in place.
14. Add a picture of you and your friend (figure F).
15. Add the "Give Thanks" or "Merci" sticker from the Phrase Café sticker sheet under the photo (figure G).
16. Decorate the matching envelope (figure H) and present your special thank you to show your gratitude.
