Projects by Anna Griffin.L-O-V-E Garland in a Box
One side of this unique card garland spells L-O-V-E; the other side announces the time, date and place of the wedding. Alternately, spell out B-A-B-Y for baby announcements (figure A), or change the papers/colors to something bright and festive and add another block for P-A-R-T-Y invitations.

1. To wrap the outside of the box: From the decorative paper, cut one 5-inch and one 7-inch square.
Note: Patterns for cutting the paper to cover the outside and line the inside of the box and the lid can be found in the PDF Box Base and PDF Box Lid files at the right.
2. Stamp the border stamp on each side of each square so the tops of the borders meet in the centers of the squares. Emboss with clear embossing powder.
3. Place the squares face down. Center the box top on the smaller square and the box base on the larger square. On two sides, cut slits from edge of the paper to the edge of the box as shown in the PDF pattern. Cover the box base and lid with the paper, tucking the paper over the edges to the inside (figure B). Adhere with decoupage finish.
4. To line the box: Cut one 4-inch square and one 5-inch square from the platinum damask paper.
5. Position the lid on the 4-inch square and the box base on the 5-inch square. Notch the corners as shown in the PDF pattern. (This makes it easier to tuck the paper in the box.) Adhere the box base liner inside the box (figure C).
6. Cut a 12-inch piece of ribbon. Cut a slit in the center of the lid liner the same width as the ribbon. Feed 1/4 inch of ribbon through the liner and secure it to the back of the paper (it will be hidden), allowing the rest to hang on the patterned side of the paper. Attach the liner to the lid.
7. To make the card: Cut eight 1-1/4-inch squares from the ivory card stock.
8. Using ink and clear embossing powder, stamp the letters to spell "L-O-V-E" on four squares with the alphabet stamps.
9. On the other four squares, add the text of the wedding announcement (names, date, location, etc.) (figure D). Note: You can use a computer to print the text of your announcement on ivory paper and then cut out the squares as below, or you can hand-write the text after you cut the squares, as these directions indicate.
10. Cut eight 1-1/2-inch decorative paper squares. Adhere ivory squares on these paper squares using foam dots.
11. Adhere the squares along the ribbon hanging from the lid (figure E), matching a text square on one side of the ribbon with a stamped square on the other side.
12. Cut the ends of the ribbon in a dovetail (figure F).
