Materials --Square white dessert plates Plaid Folk Art Enamels: #4024 Hydrangea, #4046 Inca Gold Metallic, #4039 Calypso Sky, #4019 Fresh Foliage, and #4001 Wicker White Cup of water Paper towels 1 flat 1/2" paintbrush 1 small #5 round paintbrush

- Take the flat brush and dip it in some water and then wipe it off -- it will make the brush more pliable. Paint stripes approximately every 1/2" around the plate border with Fresh Foliage green paint (figure A).
Note: This is done freehand -- it does not have to be all straight and beautiful. You do not want a perfect look because you can buy that! - Using the same brush, paint short stripes all the way around the perimeter with Calypso Sky Blue. This will be on top of the green.
- Paint thin stripes in Hydrangea on either side of the Fresh Foliage stripe using the round brush (figure B). Let the plate dry. Wash the brush out well because you are going to switch colors.
Note: These plates are mainly for decorative purposes -- you don't want to eat off them. You can place a doily in the middle and have cookies on it, etc. They need to be hand washed. Just follow the manufacturer's directions on the paint container for drying and permanency. - Use the small round brush to paint small stripes with Inca Gold Metallic in between strips of the Calypso Sky (figure C).
