Want to take a piece of glass from clear to colorful? It's as easy as using glass paints! Here DIY crafts expert Debbie Stapley shares tips to help you get the best results.

    Steps:

    • First, be sure to clean the glass before painting. You may even want to wear cotton or rubber gloves to prevent the oils in your skin from getting on the glass while you paint.

    • Any synthetic- or natural-bristle brush will work just fine for applying the paint. Just remember to clean brushes with soap and water immediately after using them, so they don't dry out. And if you need to paint an entire piece of glass, use a sponge.

    • You can also find a variety of colors in markers with different-size tips, from fine to thick. These are great for outlining letters or designs.

    • When it comes to decorating glass, stencils are a good choice. Just make sure you secure them well to the surface with low-tack tape or repositionable spray adhesive.

    • Another easy way to draw letters or shapes onto glass is first to draw or print out your design on paper. Then secure the paper to the inside of the glass. Now all you have to do is trace over it from the outside with a paint pen or paintbrush.
