    From "Uncommon Threads"
    episode DUCT-247

    (Continued from page 2)

    Sequined Sparkle Bag

Drew Emborsky, of NexGeneration, shows how the basic crocheted bag gets a bit of nighttime edge with the addition of sparkling sequins. Who would have guessed that this one simple, classic handbag design could take on three very different and unique looks?

    Sequined Sparkle Bag
    Materials:

Hawaiian Motif Crochet Handbag (to order pattern, see Resources, below)
crochet hook, US size 10 (1.30mm)
254 3/4" sequins in a color to coordinate with the bag
size 20 crochet floss in a coordinating color
sewing needle (small enough to pass through eye of sequin)

    Stitches and abbreviations used:
    ch chain
    sc single crochet

    1. Using a sewing needle, thread the sequins onto the crochet floss (leaving the floss on the spool) (figure A).

    2. With the crochet hook, attach the floss to side of the bag with a single crochet on the
    third row from the base.

    3. (Ch 3, sc in front of next st) twice. Pull up a sequin and holding it close to the bag, work one more sc in front of same st (figure B).

    4. Repeat Step 3 until sequins have been added on that line all the way around the bag. Slipstitch to the first sc. Fasten off (figure C).
