    Flower Ring

    Cecily Keim crochets a simple flower ring that can be whipped up in minutes.

    Materials:
    crochet thread or lace-weight yarn
    appropriate size crochet hook.

    Abbreviations, stitches and techniques:
    ch
    chain/chains
    dc double crochet
    hdc half double crochet
    sc single crochet
    sl st slip stitch
    st stitch/stitches
    tr treble crochet
    working in the round

    Create the center of the flower:
    Ch 2.
    Work 4 sc into the second ch from the hook.

    Make petals:
    Each petal consists of several stitches worked into one sc from the first round.

    Ch 3, work 3 tr into the first sc, ch 3, sl st into the same sc.

    Sl st into the next sc. Create another petal: ch 3, work 3 tr into the same sc, ch 3, sl st into the same sc.

    Repeat twice more to create 4 petals total.

    Finish the ring:
    Turn the flower over, sl st into a nearby st, ch the number of st necessary to fit your finger (figure A). Sl st to the back of the flower to finish. Tie off and weave in the ends.
