    Pilates/Yoga Mat Bag
    Materials:

fabric (same or contrasting fabric for strap; ideally, fabric should be slippery and washable)
    interfacing
    thick grosgrain ribbon
    sew-on hook-and-loop tape

    1. Measure width and length of mat and add 2" to each measurement.

    2. Cut main fabric. Cut out 2 circles the same as width of mat plus 1" (e.g., if the mat measures 14" around, you would cut an 8" circle, or 7" plus 1").

    3. Turn in fabric 1/2" on one long side, pin and stitch to have a clean edge; repeat for other side of fabric.

    4. Attach one circle to wrong side end and pin. You can either machine-stitch, which is a bit awkward, or hand-stitch circle. Stitch around, leaving about 1" unstitched at opening. Repeat with other side. Turn to right side. There should be about 1" overlap for flap.

    5. Attach hook (prickly) side of tape to the flap; stitch. Attach loop (softer) side to body of bag at edge and stitch.

    6. Measure how long you would like strap and cut a 2" piece of fabric to measurement Iron on fusible to make this more durable. Attach strap to each end and sew.

    7. Double ribbon, using measurement of width of bag (e.g., 14" width would be 28" of ribbon and cut. Find center of ribbon, attach to center back of bag and stitch.

    8. Place the mat in the bag, fasten shut and tie ribbon around for a decorative finish.
