Maliaka Bugjo shares a great idea: using simple macramé, she makes a beaded cat collar that's sturdy and cute.
Materials:
various beads jewelry clasp 2 jump rings 2 crimp ends flexible jewelry wire waxed linen glue safety pin cardboard1. Cut piece of wire to fit desired necklace or bracelet length. 2. Cut piece of waxed linen 4 times as big as the wire and fold in half. 3. Glue wire end and pinched end of linen into crimp. Use pliers to press crimp flat. 4. With a safety pin, attach the piece to cardboard (this will keep your project stable while you tie knots).
5. Take 2 pieces of line and, working half of a square knot, keep wrapping them around the wire (figure A). (To do a half-knot, take the left piece of linen over the wire, creating a triangle shape out of linen on the left. Next, bring the right piece of linen up through the loop or triangle made by the left linen. Pull this gently but firmly, creating a knot. Keep making knots in this manner, being careful to always work on the left side. After several knots have been made, the fibers will start to twist in a spiral pattern, creating the intended design.)6. Run beads along wire (figure B), wrapping linen around beads and wire in same half-knot fashion; continue in this manner until piece reaches desired length. 7. Finish piece by gluing wire and linen ends into crimp as before and pressing down on crimp, securing piece. 8. Attach jewelry clasp, using jump rings.
