Cindy Danke makes embroidered catnip toys using little pieces of felt and some embroidery floss. She cuts the felt into a shape of a fish and uses decorative embroidery stitches such as a modified lazy daisy and satin stitch to turn it into a terrific cat toy.
1. Create a pattern by drawing ideas, such as a fish, onto paper.2. Cut out pattern and pin to felt. Cut out felt shapes in the amounts required. 3. Embroider patterns and design elements onto the flat felt shapes. Other felt shapes, such as fins or wings, are sewn on at this time (for suggestions, see images, below).
