    Stadium Cushions
    Tools:

vinyl fabric (2 different team colors)
    glue stick
    14"x14" high-density foam
    Sewer's Aid
    sewing machine
    heavy -duty thread
    1/2 yard 1"-wide nylon webbing
scrap of vinyl fabric (this will be for an appliquéé)
    sewing pins

    1. Cut one color of the vinyl 15"x15" for the top of the seat cushion and the second color of the vinyl 15"x15" for the bottom of the seat cushion.

    2. Cut the scrap of vinyl fabric into a desired sports "ball" (basketball, football, softball, etc.) shape, making sure it's smaller than 12"x12".

    3. Center and glue the shape on the top of the seat cushion (figure A). The glue stick will just help hold the ball in place while sewing. Use a pin if necessary.

    4. Use Sewer's Aid to help in stitching vinyl by placing a drop or two on the bottom of the presser foot (figure B). Topstitch the sports ball shape in place and add any decorative top stitching you desire (figure C). You can use decorative stitches or zigzag stitches to add extra details. Wipe off any excess Sewer's Aid.

    Attaching a Handle

Make a U shape with the nylon webbing and pin to the bottom of the cushion on the right side of the fabric (figure D). Pin both ends of the webbing 4" from the outer edges. Be sure to pin the handle so it's facing in so that, when you turn the cushion inside out, the handle will be facing the proper direction.

    Constructing the Cushion

    1. Pin the top of the cushion to the bottom, right sides together. Be careful to keep the handle tucked flat between the right sides of the fabric.

    2. Sew around the edges using a 5/8" seam allowance and a slightly longer stitch (figure E). Leave a 6" opening for turning and stuffing.

    3. Turn the cushion right side out (the handle should now be showing) and stuff with the foam (figure F). Topstitch the opening closed using heavy-duty thread.
