Making your own personalized bath scrubsBy Cathie Filian and Steve Piacenza
Jan. 15, 2007 Spending too much money on trendy bath products? Great skin-care products don't have to cost a fortune. In fact, you can make them right in your own home with basic all-natural ingredients ingredients you might already have in your pantry.
Among the easiest skin-care products to make are body scrubs. They are quickly made and come from a simple recipe that will make your skin glow. And you can personalize your scrub to best complement your skin type.
Sweet almond oil is a great source of vitamin E and has a delicious aroma. The apricot kernel oil used is believed to have healing qualities. Try one or both of our recipes below, or discover what suits your skin and create your own recipe.
You can combine fragrances to create a unique smell all your own. We like the combination of vanilla and ginger or cucumber and green tea. You can choose to add sugar or sea salt, depending on which texture you like best. The honey not only adds texture but also works as a wonderful natural moisturizer. It will soothe and nourish your skin and leave you feeling totally rejuvenated.
So, mix it up, try different oils and fragrances, and design your own line of original body scrubs. Package it in a cute container, slap a crafty label on it and you've got a great gift for your friends.
And with Valentine's Day approaching, you can make these to give as a special treat for your sweet. These great-smelling body scrubs are enticing and will leave your skin silky smooth and oh-so touchable.
So, give your pocketbook a break and try making these refreshing body scrubs. Your skin will thank you.
