  • Embedded Word Soap
  • Learn how to embed a secret object in soap.
    From "Craft Lab"
    episode DCLB-115

Guest Anne-Marie Faiola, along with host Jennifer Perkins, demonstrates how you can embed a secret object into your soap. By placing a note into a small plastic lip balm container, she shows you how you can pour soap base and embed the container inside. Once the soap hardens, a secret message or fortune is frozen inside!

    Embedded Word Soap

    Project designed by Anne-Marie Faiola.

    Materials:

    mold
    small plastic lip balm case
    paper and pen
clear melt and pour base (Stephenson brand)
    glass Pyrex measuring cup
    microwave or double boiler
    alcohol in spritzer bottle

    1. Write a secret message or fortune on your paper and place it into your lip balm container. Make sure this is tightly sealed.

    2. Melt your soap base for one to two minutes in the microwave using a microwave safe container that pours. Pour just enough to fill the bottom of your mold.

    3. Insert your lip balm container with your message into the soap.

    4. Pour a second layer of soap on top of the first layer. If your lip balm container rises slightly, simply press it down so it is centered in the soap.

    5. Let your soap sit overnight so it will hard enough to pop out easily.
