    From "B. Original"

Michele Beschen's tomato cage makes a great trellis for vines or it can stand on its own as just another natural sculpture for your yard!

    Tomato Cage Trellis

    Materials:

long, flexible branches (willow branches work great)
    round, tapered tomato cage
    20-gauge wire
    anvil pruners

Note: It's easiest to work with the cage lying on its side.

    1. Weave the long sticks through the grids on the cage from top to bottom.

    2. Put the wider portion of the stick at the bottom.

    3. Alternate the weave (figure A) so the branches aren't all on the outside or all on the inside of the cage.

    4. Secure branches with wire as you go and fill in accordingly.

    5. Even up the bottom branches by trimming with a pruner—and then secure into the ground.
