Designer Melissa Howes-Vitek of Fibre-Craft Materials Corporation uses metal leaves to make a unique floor lamp.

    Materials:
    Flexible metal leaves from Fibre-Craft
    Wire lampshade form
    Gold spray paint
    Wire cutters
    Metal glue
    Clamps

    1. Spray the wire lampshade form with gold paint.

    2. Place a large Fibre-Craft metal oak leaf vertically along one of the vertical wires of the lampshade form, and twist the wire that comes attached to the leaf base around the bottom wire of the form. Trim off excess wire with wire cutters.

    3. Place another large Fibre-Craft metal oak leaf vertically along the next vertical wire of the lampshade form, this time in the opposite direction, with the base of the leaf at the top of the lampshade form, and twist the wire around the top of the form (figure A).

    4. Continue placing large oak leaves along the vertical supports of the lamp form. Take smaller Fibre-Craft metal oak leaves, and snip off the wires with wire cutters. Bend each leaf and attach it with metal glue to the top horizontal wire of the lampshade form between two large oak leaves. Hold the leaves in place with clamps (figure B).

    5. Attach Fibre-Craft metal acorns randomly to the lampshade with metal glue.

    6. Place the finished shade on a floor lamp. Use a red or green bulb to create a soft glow (figure C).
