    Fabric-Covered Message Board
    Materials:

    fabric
    batting
    foam-core poster board
    staple gun
    utility knife
    pinking shears

    1. Determine the length and width of the desired message board.

    2. Use a utility knife to cut the foam-core poster board to the specific message-board dimensions.

    3. Use pinking shears to cut the fabric to the desired message-board measurements, allotting an additional 3" for all message- board sides.

    4. Cut the batting to the same dimensions of the fabric.

    5. Lay the fabric down (right side facing down). Place the batting directly on top of the fabric. Then place the foam-core poster board on top of the batting.

    6. Staple fabric and batting to foam-core poster board. Start stapling in the middle of each message board side to ensure that the fabric and the batting are evenly distributed. Staple the message-board corners last using the mitering technique (cutting away any excess fabric and batting, so that the fold is smooth).

    Curtain Panels for Closet
    Curtain Panels for Closet

    Materials:

    measuring tape
    mcissors
    fabric
sewing machine or needle and thread
    curtain rod

    1. Measure the width and length of the closet opening. Add 4" for a doubled 2" hem on the bottom. Allow 1/2" for seams across the top to insert ties for attaching the curtain to the rod. Cut off the selvages along both sides of the fabric.

    2. Cut the lining to the same measurements but 1" shorter.

    3. Place the rights sides of the curtain fabric and the lining together, aligning the top edges so the lining hem is 1" shorter than the curtain at the bottom. Sew up both sides.

    4. Insert tabs between the curtain fabric and the lining. To make the tabs, cut four 4" strips, at desired length. Fold over 1/4" on each side, fold the strip in half lengthwise and sew along the long edge. Cut the sewn strip in half. Space the strips equally along the top of the curtain. Pin in place.

    5. Sew across the top of the curtain, then turn the curtain right side out and press.

    Chair Cover

    Materials:

    fabric
    sewing machine
    sewing needles
    thread
    cording
    scissors
    tape measure

    1. Measure the width of the chair, adding 1" for seam allowances. Measure the length of the chair back, adding 1-1/2" for fold-up for hem. Cut two fabric pieces.

    2. Cut bias strip 2" wide, out of contrasting material. Sew enough stripes to make enough cording to go around the chair back.

    3. Lay both chair back and front fabric pieces face together, insert cording between the two fabric pieces and sew all three together.

    4. Hem the bottom edge.

    5. Place over the back of the chair.
