    From "Material Girls"
    episode DMTG-102

It's time to add the final touches. Cat, April and Kelly add several colorful fabric accents to pull the dorm room together: throw pillows for the beds, a fabric-covered magnetic board for the fridge, closet-door panels, fabric-covered message boards, slipcovers for the desk chairs and a painted sisal rug to cover the floor.

    Materials:

    fabric
    batting
    foam-core poster board
    staple gun
    utility knife
    pinking shears
    adhesive magnetic strips

    1. Measure the length and height of the refrigerator.

    2. Use a utility knife to cut the foam-core poster board to the measurements.

    3. Using the pinking shears, cut the fabric to the same measurements, adding an additional 3" of fabric for each side of the cover.

    4. Cut the batting to the same dimensions as the fabric.

    5. Lay the fabric face down on the workspace. Place the batting directly on top of the fabric and the foam core on top of the batting.

    6. Staple the fabric and batting to the foam-core poster board. Start stapling in the middle, alternating sides to ensure that the fabric and batting are distributed evenly. Continue stapling around the sides of the foam core, leaving several inches staple-free at the corners

    7. Miter the corners by folding the fabric into a point toward the board. Staple in place along the edges and trim away the excess. Fold down the fabric that remains and staple in place.

    8. Apply adhesive magnetic strips to the back of the board.
