- Dishtowels today come with all kinds of appliques or embroidery. Position the dishtowel on top of the suitcase and decide what area of the dishtowel you want to use (figure A). Cut the dishtowel leaving about 1/4" on the bottom side, and the right and left sides.
Note: You can use all kinds of fabric for this project. For a larger suitcase that will be going through baggage claim, upholstery fabric would be great. The dishtowels are great for carry on luggage. - Attach the dishtowel to the suitcase with straight pins (figure B). It will be hard to get the pins to go all the way through, so you can pin them enough so that the dishtowel will stay in place.
- Remove one pin at a time and pull the dishtowel back a little. Apply FabriTac around the edge of that area (figure C), and continue doing that all the way around the dishtowel on the bottom side and left and right sides.
Tip: If you want the dishtowel to be extra sturdy, you can apply a few lines of FabriTac all over the back of the dishtowel before you place it on the suitcase. - Run a bead of glue underneath the top side of the dishtowel, and then another bead on the top edge of the top of the dishtowel.
- Adhere the black pom-pom trim to the top edge of the towel (figure D). Glue the ends of the pom-pom trim under, smooth the trim out and make sure it is straight, and then just hold the pom-pom trim down a minute.
