    Polymer Clay Sequins

    Project designed by Jennifer Perkins.

    Materials:

8 oz. bottle translucent Liquid Sculpey
    Bottle Sculpey Clay Softener
    glitter: celestial, sunset, or embers
E-beads: matte light amber, amber, bronze iris
    1 small glass dish
    6 wooden craft sticks
    Sculpey Super Slicer
    1" round punch
    heat gun
    scissors
    8" x 10" piece of glass
    toaster oven
    oven thermometer
    pair of oven mitts
    flat baking tray
    2 picture frames

    1. Pour one and one-half tablespoons of liquid clay into each glass dish. Add one teaspoon of glitter to the dish, and stir completely. The mixture should look glittery but should not get too pasty.

    2. Add a few drops of clay softener and stir it in completely.

    3. Pour the glitter mix onto the piece of glass and spread it into a thin, even sheet. Bake the clay on the glass for 15 minutes at 275 degrees (F). Remove the glass from the oven and set it on a heatproof surface (do not place on cold surface because the glass may crack).

    4. Wave the heat gun over the clay on the glass for a few minutes to smooth out the uneven spots, moving it around so you do not burn the clay. It is a good idea to do this in a well ventilated area. Allow the clay and glass to cool completely.

    5. Use your slicer to carefully lift one edge of the clay off of the glass. Peel it slowly all the way off. Repeat the spreading, baking, cooling and peeling for the other two colors of glitter liquid clay.

    6. Punch a row of 1" circles out of each sheet of clay (figure A). Trim the edges, and continue by punching another row from each sheet. Continue until all three sheets have been used up.

    7. Decorate picture frames with the sparkly sequins and shimmering clay.
