    Figure B
    Project designed by Sonya Nimri.

    Materials:

    stick lamp base
    Three 6" plastic foam balls
    gold, copper and silver leaf
    leaf sizing
    masking tape
    8" saw
    1/2" brush
    black acrylic paint

    Bulbous Gold Lamp Base

    1. Make a line down the middle of the foam balls and cut them in half with your saw.

    2. Make a small groove down the middle of each half ball so that the lamp stem can fit snugly inside your ball (figure A).

    3. Mask the ball closed, making sure that every bit of foam is covered by tape.

    4. Brush sizing on with your brush according to the directions on the package.

    5. Gold leaf the balls (figure B), then add specks of silver and copper where there are holes.

    6. Lightly brush the balls with black paint and rub it in.
