    photos
    scissors
    decorative papers and cardstocks
    corrugated paper
    silver metallic craft paint
    foam paintbrush
    black marker
    paint pens
    red, yellow and orange ribbon
    double-sided tape
    circular paper punch (optional)
    adhesive foam squares
    wooden starburst shape
    orange craft paint
    gold marker
    white glue
    glitter
    astronaut die cuts
    yellow craft foam
    hole punch
    grommets
    grommet setter
    craft hammer
    silver metallic scrapbook paper
    bamboo skewer
    craft knife
    yellow dimensional paint
    3 sheets UFO printed paper
    glue gun and glue
    star-shaped brads
    optional: 12"x12" scrapbook page frame

    1. Blue glittery scrapbook paper is the base for this page. Begin by cutting faces from photos.

    2. To make the moon, cut a quarter circle out of yellow craft foam and a slightly smaller version of the same shape out of silver metallic scrapbook paper. Use a hole punch to punch several holes in the foam. Set grommets in these holes (figure A). Place a scrap of craft foam underneath the grommets to act as a cushion while hammering.

    3. Cut a small slit in the craft foam approximately 3/4" in from one corner. Use double-sided tape to attach the silver paper to the lower right corner of the scrapbook page, silver side up (figure B).

    4. Make a flag with astronauts’ names by printing the names on a piece of colored paper and folding in half just to the right of the printing, with the printing on the outside. Cut around the names to make a flag shape. Break off the end of a bamboo skewer to use as a flagpole. Unfold the flag shape and hot-glue the skewer to the inside folded edge. Use double-sided tape to close the flag; poke the end of the skewer through the small hole cut in the craft foam moon (figure C).

    5. Place double-sided tape over the back of the moon and lay it down on top of the silver paper.

    6. Use double-sided tape to attach pictures to the helmets of the astronaut die cuts. Stick the astronauts to the page with adhesive foam squares; the squares slightly elevate the astronauts, giving them the appearance of walking on the moon (figure D).

    7. Cut three identical UFO shapes from the UFO paper. Dab several dots of hot glue on top of one of the UFOs and let the glue set up for a moment. Place the second UFO on top of the first; letting the hot glue set-up will give a three-dimensional, raised look to the images. Repeat with the third UFO (figure E). Stick the UFOs to the page with adhesive foam squares or double-sided tape.

    8. To make the rocket, cut two identical rocket shapes out of corrugated paper (you can also use cardboard) (figure F). Paint the smooth side of one of the shapes with silver metallic paint and let dry. The paper may curl a bit as it dries, but don’t worry: you can gently curl it back in reverse to flatten it after it dries.

    9. Using a black marker, trace around the perimeter of the rocket ship. Use paint markers to add details to the rocket (figure G). Turn the ship over, place a line of hot glue near the tail and place the ends of the ribbons in the glue (figure H). Glue the two rocket shapes together with hot glue.

    10. Use a paper punch to punch two circles of blue scrapbook paper or cardstock (or cut two circles with scissors); use double-sided tape to attach a face to each of the circles. Use double-sided tape or adhesive foam squares to attach the faces to the rocket (figure I). Attach the rocket to the scrapbook page with adhesive foam squares.

    11. Paint the starburst with orange craft paint and let dry. Add details around the edges with a gold paint pen; add a drop of glue to the center of the starburst, sprinkle glitter over the glue and let dry. When it's dry, attach the starburst to the page with adhesive foam squares (figure J).

    12. Print the phrase "Space Cadets" on a piece of scrapbook paper or cardstock and cut out. Using decorative scissors, cut a slightly larger backing piece from contrasting paper or cardstock. Use double-sided tape to attach the printed paper to the backing and attach to the scrapbook page with adhesive foam dots or double-sided tape (figure K).

    13. Make several small slits in the scrapbook page with a craft knife. Push a star-shaped brad into each slit and separate the prongs.

    14. For a final touch, add yellow dots of dimensional paint underneath the UFOs and let dry.

    15. If desired, frame your masterpiece in a scrapbook page frame.
