Doily NecklaceMaterials: crocheted doilies decorative trim beaded fringe snap, hook-and-eye or hook-and-loop fasteners - Start collecting interesting doilies. You can find them at thrift shops, yard sales or even tucked away in the back of linen closets (figure A).
- Layer a small doily over a larger one and stitch together by hand. This will be the pendant to the choker.
- To create the choker, stitch a decorative trim to the raw front edge of the beaded fringe (figure B). Michele Beschen recommends using trim in a complimentary color.
- Cut the trim and fringe to the proper size for your neck. It should go comfortably around your neck with about an inch of overlap. Add the fastener to the two ends of the trim and fringe.
- Stitch the doily pendant to the center of the choker, underneath the trim.
- You can embellish the piece with beads, buttons or other baubles, if desired. Play around with different styles of trim and doilies for a variety of looks.
