    Materials:

    large beads in various colors
    colored elastic cord
    bead mat
    scissors
    safety pin

    1. Cut a length of elastic to the size of your wrist plus four inches.

    2. Lay out the beads to be used.

    3. Tie a slipknot in one end of the elastic, and then attach it to a safety pin so the beads won't fall off (figure A).

    4. String up the beads (figure B) as desired.

    5. Undo the slipknot, and then tie a square knot with the two ends of elastic. Pull it firmly, and then trim the ends.
