Materials:2oz. bottle translucent liquid sculpey silver and purple heat resistant glitter oil-based colored pencils 2 3-1/2"x5-1/2" pieces of well-pressed pink sheer cotton or cotton-blend fabric 1 -1/2"x3' butterfly transfer image large and medium butterfly shaped patterns craft thread 3/16"x4-3/4" cherry wood pointed stick Crafter's Pick glue 6 4mm crystal rhinestones small piece of polymer clay 1/16" hole punch 1/4" hole punch tapestry needle 5"x7" piece of glass small glass dish or waxed lined cup wooden craft stick flat baking tray toaster oven or regular oven oven thermometer oven mitts scissors paper towels 527 cement wooden skewer
1. In a small glass dish, add 1/4 teaspoon of purple glitter and 1/4 of a teaspoon of silver glitter to one teaspoon of translucent liquid polymer clay. Stir thoroughly.2. Using your fingers spread an even coat of the mixture onto a piece of glass in a rectangle--approximately the same size as one of the two pieces of fabric. 3. Lay a piece of fabric (figure A) over the mixture on the glass, and then pat gently. 4. Add a small amount of translucent liquid clay to the back, and then spread it over the fabric starting at the center. 5. Once the fabric is saturated and flat, place the piece of glass on a baking tray. 6. Bake in the oven for 10 minutes at 265 degrees. Note: Keep watch on the project while it's in the over. Don't let the fabric burn. 7. Remove the glass from the tray, and then place the glass on a heatproof surface that's not cold. 8. Allow the glass to cool slowly.
9. Peel the fabric back from the glass (figure B).10. Color in the butterfly transfer image as desired. 11. Spread a thin, even coat of translucent liquid polymer clay over the entire image and beyond the edges. 12. Lay a second piece of fabric over the clay, and then pat it into place. 13. Spread additional translucent liquid polymer clay onto the backside of the medium image piece. Spread a thin coat of glue in the center of the clay fabric, leaving at least 1/4 inch around the edge of the fabric without glue. 14. Center the image piece of clay fabric over the glittering piece, and then press them together (the shiny side of the glittering piece should be facing up). Place this under a heavy object to dry flat.

15. Mark holes around the edge of the smaller image piece of the butterfly shaped clay fabric (figure C). The holes should be 1/8 inch in from the edge of the top piece of clay fabric, about 3/16 inch apart. Make sure to mark an even number of holes. Punch holes all around with a 1/16 inch hole punch.16. Thread craft thread through the tapestry needle, double it over, and then knot the ends. Use a running stitch through the punched holes to form a decorative border (figure D). Knot and trim the thread. 17. Punch a 1/4 inch hole on each end of the hair holder, one inch from the outer tip and centered from the top to the bottom on the butterfly shape. Slide the wood stick in place. 18. Place dots of glue (527 cement) in places where you wish to apply rhinestones. 19. Wrap the pointed tip of the skewer with polymer clay, this will assist in picking up and placing the rhinestones onto the butterfly. Place the rhinestones into the glue, press in place (figure E), and then allow the glue to dry before using the hair holder.
