    Materials --

    Argyle socks
    0.5mm clear elasticized beading cord
    E Beads
    Bugle beads
    Matching thread

    Tools --

    Scissors
    Needlepoint needle
    Beading needle
    Sewing machine or serger

    Argyle Cuff

    1. Leaving about 1/2" on the top and bottom for hemming, cut the cuffs off the socks (figure A).

    2. Using either a serger or a sewing machine, hem the top and bottom with matching thread. On a sewing machine, turn down the edge; on a serger, hem right next to the pattern you are keeping and cut away the excess. It is okay if the edge ruffles.

      Note: A serger is a sewing machine that covers the raw edges of fabric with a V-shaped stitch.

      Note: Another option is to seal the edges with Fray Check.

    3. Using clear, elasticized beading thread and a needle, sew around the top and bottom with matching E beads.

    4. For final pizzazz, sew on some bugle beads in the Argyle pattern (figure B) and tie off on the underside.
