Multi-Twist Pearls by Sara James1. Attach the 24" length of beading wire to one loop of one side of the multi-strand clasp using one crimp bead. String the pearls onto the wire for 18" (figure A) and attach the wire to a loop on the opposite multi-clasp. Trim any excess wire just below the crimp beads. 2. Choose one leather or suede strip to "join" with ribbon strip. Lay the ribbon directly on top of the chose strip lengthwise. Attach one leather cord tip to each end of the ribbon strip combo by gluing or crimping (figure B). Also attach the leather cord tips to each end of the remaining suede or leather strips by gluing or crimping.
3. Attach one end of all the remaining strips to the remaining loops on one side of the multi-strand clasp (figure C). Some strips may need to be attached to the same loop. Also, attach the chain length to a loop on the clasp using a jump ring or split ring.DIY Tip: Split rings are more secure to use when attaching items together and are easy to open with special split ring pliers. 4. Choose one strip to "twist" around the pearls loosely by wrapping in one direction (figure D). Holding this strip in place, attach the other end to a loop on the opposite side of the multi-strand clasp. 5. Choose a second strip to "twist" around the pearl strand, but wrap this trip in the opposite direction of the first strip and attach to a loop on the clasp. Your piece should begin to hold its shape and look similar to a braid. Continue "twisting" each of the remaining strips in different directions from each other and attaching them to the opposite clasp.
6. The multi-twist necklace is complete, but you may want to hang a matching pendant to finish off your piece. Use a large jump ring or split ring to attach your pendant to any one of the strips in the center of the necklace (figure E).7. Use this same technique to create many stunning pieces of jewelry (figure F).
