Elemental Necklace- Fold six feet of yarn in half and make a Lark's Head Knot around a resin donut (figure A). Tie an Overhand Knot right next to it in so you can create a little space and the bead won't slide down right next to it.
- String one resin bead onto both strands of yarn (you might need to use a 6" length of wire folded in half as a needle to get the yarn through the bead). Tie an Overhand Knot right next to the bead (figure B).
FYI: Resin beads are fun to work with. They come in lots of colors and shapes, and they are handmade and lightweight. - Repeat Step 2 with resin beads for 9" to 12". You can group similar bead shapes together or vary the shape with every bead. If using a slice, string one strand of yarn through the hole, and then string the other strand through the hole in the opposite direction. Bring the two strands to the top of the bead (figure C) and tie a Square Knot, then an Overhand Knot before moving onto the next bead.
- Repeat Step 1, Step 2, and Step 3 for the other half of the necklace.
- You can finish your necklace in two ways -- with a clasp or without a clasp. If the necklace is to go over your head (no clasp), string one bead onto four strands of yarn and tie an Overhand Knot. String two more beads, tie two Overhand Knots, and trim the excess yarn, leaving 1" of fringe (figure D).
- To make a clasp, tie an Overhand Knot and string one rondelle, two slices, and one rondelle. Pass back through the slices and the first rondelle strung, leaving about a 1/8" of bare yarn between the two slices. Tie an Overhand Knot and trim the yarn leaving one inch of fringe.
- On the other side of the necklace, tie Half Hitch Knots for 3" or whatever length is needed to fit around and between the two slices in Step 6. Make a loop and tie an Overhand Knot at the beginning of the Half Hitch Knots.
