Materials --Old unwanted leather belt, or cut leather 7-9" thickness 2 snaps with backings 14-16 sterling silver bar components Leather thread Tools -- Leather needle Snap machine Snap dies Hammer
Leather Cuff1. Begin with old belt or leather and cut two, 3-1/2" (L) x 1-1/2 to 2" (W) pieces (figure A). Make sure that both pieces are exactly the same size. 2. Use a leather needle to mark holes in the leather where the silver bars will go, and then use the leather needle to punch all the way through the marks (figure B).
3. Take sterling silver bars and stitch onto leather on both ends creating a connection between both pieces of leather (figure C) and then knot it.4. After 14-16 pieces of leather are stitched, tie the thread and add snaps using a snap machine (figure D). Use #7 to punch in the larger holes and #3 for the smaller holes. Mark on the leather where you want your snap to go. You have to make sure you have enough space for the snap so that it doesn't overlap because the edges of the snaps are sharp. Make the big hole first and punch it and then pull it over and punch the smaller hole. This way they line up perfectly.
