    Mesh Earring Easel

    1. Cut two 18" pieces of armature rods, and form a spiral at each end.

    2. Cut a 4" and 6" piece of rod.

    3. Flatten out the mesh and lay out the rods on it with the two short pieces connecting the long spiraled pieces. Draw a pattern for the wire mesh, marking the inside and outside corners of the easel. Allow about 1" extra space for wrapping the armature rods.

    4. Cut out the wire mesh, inside the marked lines.

    5. Cut a brace 10" long from the armature rod.

    6. Using a piece of embossing metal 1-1/2" x 4", wrap it around the brace rod snugly.

    7. Slip it halfway off the rod, squeeze the end flat, and wrap it around the 6" top cross brace. Slip out the 10" brace rod temporarily.

    8. Now bend the edges of the cut mesh around the four sides of the easel frame. The mesh will hold the four sides together once it is squeezed in place. Use small clamps to hold it in place.

    9. Reinforce the structure by wrapping copper wire around the four sides. Add some curls, bends, and beads.

    10. Add some random lengths of copper chain to dangle from the top loops of the easel.

    11. Install the brace rod into the tube you created, and the easel is complete.

Tip: Monofilament and elastic can get brittle over time. The humidity of a bathroom can help keep jewelry moist. You can hang your jewelry on wooden hooks (figure A) and keep it inside your bathroom cupboard to prevent the brittleness.
