    Romantic Necklace

    1. Cut seven strands of beading wire in increasing lengths from 20-40" long. This allows 4" of extra wire for each strand. Cut the strands longer than you think you want them so you can check before you attach them to a loop on a multi-strand clasp (figure A).

    2. Tape one end of each strand with masking tape so you don't lose the pearls.

Tip: When you're working with pearls you'll want to protect them with French wire, which is a hollow tube made of extremely narrow coiled wire.

    3. String pearls of various sizes on the strands. It's fine to use more than one size on a single strand.

    4. Double check by holding up all the strands to see where you need to add to or subtract from the length of the strands.

    5. Using crimp beads, attach each strand to the clasp; place the shortest at the top and continue to the longest at the bottom. Run the ends of the beading wire back through at 1" of the pearls before clipping off the excess.

    6. Attach the pendant to a small clasp, and drop it from the center of the strand that you think looks best.
