    1. You do not need to be a great artist to use the software -- if you are willing to doodle, you can create your own unique designs. There is a toolbox and colors (figure A) that you work with to make the design the way you choose. If you want to have words in your jewelry, you can type them in paint programs with whatever font you chose.

    2. Choose a motif and set the number of beads you want and then you can do a repeat and repeat the pattern as many times as you want. You can change the colors any way you choose (figure B) -- you can swap the colors globally if you change your mind or decide you don't like a particular color.

    3. A photograph can be turned into a bead pattern (figure C). Pull up the photograph and adjust the digital image on the computer. You need to decide on your bead size before you set up the grid. The grid will let you chose the number of beads for the width and height.

    4. You paste the photograph into the grid. You choose the number of colors you want and it will instantly grid it. You can clean up the palette to get rid of any unused colors. You can even ask for a key (figure D) that will count the number of beads you need for each color. There is also a row-by-row summary that will generate the text to tell you exactly how many beads you need of each color, etc.
