Goldtone Earring
- Measure out eight segments of 22-carat gold wire, 4 segments for each earring.
- Clean off the down of the feathers (figure A), and cut a little off of the stem of the feather.
- With one drop of glue on the tip of your feather, insert the feather into the hooped coil (figure B).
- Let it dry for five minutes.
- Wire wrap a strand of three 3mm goldstone beads and one 6mm bead.
- Attach the bottom loop of the 6mm bead to the feather.
- Finally, attach the earring hook so that the feathers face the front when finished.
Note: You can use any pair of your dangle earrings and make a hoop at the end, then add the coiled feather to the end (figure C).
Red Feather Earring- Measure out 16 segments of 22-carat gold wire, 8 segments for each earring.
- Clean off the down of the feathers, and cut a little off of the stem.
- We start with the bottom bead. Take one of the gold pins and put it through a glass bead then a wood bead and then another glass bead.
- With one drop of glue on the tip of your feather, insert the feather into the hole of the cheq wood bead.
- Let it dry for 5 minutes.
- Repeat the same process for the second side of the earring.
- Start with the top bead, insert two gold wire segments with a Y on one end.
- Use the wire wrapping technique and make the loops at the Y.
- Wire wrap 3 beads of each side of the Y.
- Make the sure that the glue has dried on your feathers.
- Wire wrap the feathers to the end of each strand.
- Finally, attach the earring hook so that the feathers face the front when finished.
Note: You can remove the down from feathers, cut the stem and add a bead. Then take a hat bead with a glass bead at the end and add the beaded feather to it. Add glass bead and use the wire wrapping technique between each glass stone. Connect it to the French ear wire and you are done. (figure D). - You can use the same technique to create necklaces or wraps (figure E) to wear around your waist as a belt.
