  • Jewelry Tool Care
  • From "Jewelry Making"
    episode DJMK-305

    PHOTO

Host Jackie Guerra offers tips for jewelry tool care.
    Materials:

Olive oil, sewing machine oil or 3-in-1 oil
    Soft cloth

    • Work with tools that fit your hand well and take good care of them. Keep them clean with a few kitchen essentials: light cooking oil and a soft cloth or soft paper towels. Alternately, sewing machine oil or 3-in-1 oil are good choices. A drop of oil should be added to the hinges every few months.

    • Take care to protect your tools and avoid banging them around unnecessarily. Avoid dropping them on top of one another and have space to place them safely as you work. When you've finished, put them tools into a soft tool kit with points down.
