    1. Prestring the beads onto cotton knitting thread with bead-stringing needle.

    2. Cast 4 stitches onto knitting needles leaving 4" length of tail at beginning.

    3. Work I-cord without beads for 1/2" (1.3 cm). To work I-cord, * k across with another double-pointed knitting needle. Do not turn work -- always have Right Side or k side facing you. Slide all sts to right-hand end of needle. String strand of yarn across back of work and repeat from *. Tug on cord slightly lengthwise.

    4. (This cord is similar to that made by "knitting knobbies" and looks like small, circular tube). Increase 1 stitch in center stitch on last row -- 5 stitches. Turn work.

Row 1: (Wrong Side) Bring Up Bead or BUB, knit 1 through back loop or tbl, [knit 1, BUB] twice, knit 1, purl 1.

Row 2: (Right Side) BUB 11, knit 1 tbl, knit 4.

Row 3: BUB, knit 1 tbl, knit 4.

Row 4: Slip1 stitch with yarn in front, bring yarn to back, knit 4.

    5. Repeat Rows 1 through 4 for pattern until piece measures 10 1/2" (26.5 cm) or 1/2" (1.3 cm) less than desired length, and end having just completed Row 2 of pattern.

    6. Work the next row as follows: knit 2, knit 2 together, knit 1 (there are now 4 stitches).

    7. Work I-cord without beads for 1/2" (1.3 cm). Bind off all sts. Leave 4" length of tail at end.

    8. Steam block if desired.

    9. Using yarn tails, sew 1/2 of clasp to each end.
