    Knot

    1. Fold the cord in half and pin the center at point A. Arrange each end of the cord to form loops as shown.

    2. Fold loop A down over loop D (figure A). Fold loop B over and under the cord of loop A (figure B). Fold the cord ends C over and under the cords of loop B (figure C). Complete this step by folding loop D over and under the cords of loop C (also, figure C).

    3. Pull the loops to close the knot (figure D).

    4. Now working in the opposite direction: fold cord ends C down over loop D (figure E); fold loop D over loop A; fold loop A over loop B; then complete this step by folding loop B over loop A and under loop C.

    5. Pull the loops to close the knot, then pull out the small loops from the back of the knot (figure F). Adjust the large loops to size.

    6. When you are happy with the shape, take the mop brush and stiffen the back of the knot by brushing a thin coat of fabric glue on to the back of the knot.

    Necklace

    1. Use two cord ends to make a single button knot. Move this knot to leave a 1 cm (1/2") length of cord between it and the Good Luck knot. Working along each cord in turn, tie two groups of four single button knots separated by three beads with a short length of cord between each group. Leave a short gap, then work two single button knots separated by a bead.

    2. Equalize the ends of the cords, thread each end through a bead, through the ring of the toggle claps and back through the bead. Trim off any excess cord, add a touch of glue, pushing the bead onto the cording and allow glue to dry.
