    1. Use the markers to write a message on the face of the watch. For example, this watch says You can never have enough shoes (figure A).

    2. Add a scant amount of glue around the rim of the watch face. Press the watch face cover in place. Allow the glue to thoroughly dry.

    3. Cut stretchy illusion cord in half, one for each end of the watchband. Starting on the side of the watchband with the buckle, lay the middle of one cord above the watch face, under the band. Bring each of the cords over and around the parts of the watch that hold the band in place (figure B).

    4. On the right side of the watch use the right-hand cord and thread on a silver roundel bead and a shoe charm.

    5. Take the right cord back through the silver roundel bead. Add enough beads to the cord to cover the watchband.

    6. Take the left-hand cord across the band to the right side of the band. Take both cords behind the watch face, cross them over and back to the front, one on each side of the band. Pull the beads tightly together on the cord; all the beads should be on the front side of the band (figure C).

    7. Repeat the process using the cord on the left side of the band.

    8. Repeat the process until there are three or four rows of beads.

    9. After crossing the cords in the back, where the last row of beads has been added, bring the cords to the front of the band. Working back to the first row of beads, hook the cords around the charms; hooking the cord around the charms will help them to stay on the front side of the watchband. Bring the cords to the back of the watchband and tie several tight knots (figure D). Add a dot of glue to the knots and trim the ends of the cords.

    10. Repeat the process on the other side of the watch face.
