    Small hand drill/multi-tool
    Saw and blades
    Exacto knife
    Dental tools
    Wax pen
    Files
    Pantyhose square or fine sand paper

    1. From a big block of wax, cut out a piece of wax the size you want the finished piece. Cut a block 1"x1" square for this project, then outline the shape of a heart with a knife.

    2. Cut corners from wax block to create the heart shape and drill out center (figure A).

    3. From this point, create a free-form design. Use the small drill to drill holes and valleys in the wax and create the texture and shape desired. Use dental tools and files to refine the shapes and create recessed areas and dimension (figure B).

    4. Next, use the wax pen to build up the sides of the heart and create arches (figure C). Finish the piece by smoothing with a file, then use pantyhose to polish the surface.

    5. Send pendant to caster, where it will be cast, cleaned oxidized and polished (figure D).

    6. Add a jump ring and string onto leather to create necklace.
