    1. Cut two 4" pieces and six 6" pieces of quilling paper. Using the quilling tool, coil a circle with one 4" strip by placing one end of the paper into the slot with no overhang. Roll the tool with one hand against the ball of a finger on the other hand. Roll evenly so that the edges are even.

    2. Remove the coil and hold snugly with thumb and index finger. Release the outside end and put a dot of white glue on the inside end.

    3. Carefully set the coil into the 3/8" circle of the plastic template (figure A) and allow the coil to release. Help it expand to fill the circle and the spot of glue will stick to the next lap of the coil. Using the circle template will keep all your coiled units sized the same.

    4. Continue with the second 4" strip, then do the six 6" strips the same way, but fit them into the 1/2" diameter circle.

    5. Shape the large "eyes" of the six larger coils by pinching their opposite ends (figure B). Be careful to keep the center of the coil centered in the "eye".

    6. Glue three "eyes" and one small circle together with small spots of glue (figure C). When thoroughly dry, spray both sides with spray varnish to preserve.

    7. Slip a jumpring thru the top circle and attach it to the earring. Straighten the jumpring and put a spot of glue at the joint so the paper can’t slip out.
