  • Beaded Bandalero
  • From "Jewelry Making"
    episode DJMK-210

    PHOTO

    Jackie Guerra and her bandelero.
You'll be bedazzling in a bandalero created by host Jackie Guerra.

    Materials:

Lots of beads – sparkly, more than one size and color; approx. 80-100 (plastic beads weigh less when you are using a lot of them.)
2 lengths of chain, each 72" long
    2" eye pins
    2 jump rings
    Needle-nose pliers

    A closer look.

    1. Measure on yourself how long the bandolero should be. Leave approx. 3-6 inches (asymmetrical) as a tassel and join the ends together to fit your own body.

    2. Lay out the beads in a design, if you are using more than one kind.

    3. Run an eyepin through a bead (or two beads if they are small) and through a link of the chain. Bend the eyepin back around and crimp with the pliers.

    4. Continue adding beads until the desired result is achieved.

    5. Repeat to create second strand and wear the two strands criss-crossed over your chest.
