    Add a kick of color and artistic style to his cuffs!
    Guest artist Dotty McMillan uses polymer clay and mica powders to create artistic cufflinks with pizzazz.

    Materials:

    Polymer clay: 1 oz black
    Cuff link findings
    18-gauge wire
    Various colors of mica powders
    2-part epoxy glue
    Clay compatible glaze
    Pasta machine or acrylic roller
    Sharp blade
    Needle tool
    Ball stylus
    Wire texture tool
    Tracing wheel
    Needle nose pliers
    Small paintbrush

    1. Condition and roll out black clay to 1/8" thickness using the largest setting of pasta machine or use an acrylic roller.

    2. Use the cuff link finding to mark size of the piece you will need by pressing directly into conditioned clay (figure A).

    3. Use pliers to twist wire shapes, then press wire into the outlined area of clay (figure B).

    4. Use the small brush to apply the mica powders onto the clay surface (figure C). Use the wire pieces as dividing points between colors.

    5. Carefully remove wire from clay, then trim the piece to fit inside the cuff link sides or bezel. Bake the clay piece.

    6. After the piece has cooled, coat with glaze, allow to dry and glue piece into finding.
