Paris Glass Tag Necklace From "Jewelry Making" episode DJMK-204

A piece with lots of sparkle and sophistication -- just like the City of Lights!

Dreaming of Paris? Guest artist Mona Gettmann recreates the Eiffel Tower - in miniature form - on a glass tag.

Materials:

Large turquoise fused glass tag
Black inkpad and cleaner
Eiffel Tower rubber stamp
Silver embossing powder
Postage rubber stamp
Silver embossing powder
Silver pigment ink
Winter Transparency Sheet
Large silver jump ring
Silver wire
Coordinating beads and charms
Small Paris pewter sticker
Italian circular paper clips
Hole punch
Vellum tape
Silver tape
Solder and soldering iron
Needle nose pliers
Wire cutter
Silver cord
Heat tool/hair dryer

1. Ink Eiffel Tower stamp with black ink. Stamp image on a large turquoise glass tag. Heat set with heat tool/hairdryer.

2. Stamp Paris post image from Postal cube with silver pigment ink on the bottom corner of the tag. Use heat to set.

3. Trace tag shape onto transparency sheet with a permanent pen and cut out.

4. Attach vellum tape along the top and bottom edges of the glass tag and then attach the transparency cutout to the back of the glass tag.

5. Apply silver tape along the edges of the tag. Apply solder to the tape with a soldering iron.

6. Open large jump ring with needle nose pliers and slip jump ring through tag hole. Slide coordinating beads onto the jump ring. Close jump ring.

7. Cut off the text portion of the small Paris pewter sticker. Attach the sticker to the transparency sheet and cut.

8. Coil the end of a length of silver wire. Attach the Paris sticker and coordinating beads to the wire. Wrap the wire above the beads around a silver round paper paper clip.

9. Attach a few more beads and a charm. Coil the end and cut off excess wire. Attach the round paper clip to the jump ring.

10. Loop a length of silver cord onto the round paper clip to create a necklace, then knot the ends.
