    PHOTO

Got a teen into the chandelier trend? Any teen can create her own chandelier earrings with these easy-to-follow instructions and a few supplies.
Amber Zehnder scales down the chandelier earring trend and creates sweetheart earrings that are perfect for junior jewelry designers.

    Materials:

    14 jump rings (4-6mm)
2 earrings (hook or post) with the loops and backs
    12 head pins (2")
2 metal connectors with loops (a connector with 3-7 loops on bottom)
    Beads
    Round nose pliers
    Chain link pliers
Flat nose pliers (a second pair of chain link pliers can be substituted if desired)
    Wire cutters

    1. Begin by creating the dangles. First, count the number of bottom loops of the connector since you will need one dangle for each loop. This is the number of dangles you will make. For this example, we need 6 for each earring.

    2. Slide up to 5 beads onto 1 head pin (figure A), then cut the head pin, leaving about 1/2" wire above the last bead.

    3. Use round nose pliers to make small loop with remaining wire (figure B).

    4. Create additional dangles as needed (for 1 pair of earrings, we need 12 for our connector).

    5. To add dangles to the connector (the heart), use the flat nose and chain nose pliers to open a jump ring by twisting it to the side (pulling open will weaken). Connect the jump ring to the bottom loop of the connector and add dangle to jump ring (figure C). Close jump ring and repeat until all dangles are attached to bottom connector loops. Repeat for second earring.

    6. When all dangles are added, use the same technique to add the earring post or wire to the top of the heart connector (figure D). Repeat for second earring.
