    With a little creativity, you can make unique pieces of jewelry out of flat-backed marbles, and host Dena Fishbein will show you how.
    Materials:

    Clear flat-backed marbles
    Images on paper
    Felt
    Cording
    Trim
    Scissors
    Fabri-Tac
    Mono Aqua
    Pin back finding
    Magnet
    Barrette
    Ribbon

    1. You can find clip art books with all kinds of images in bookstores. Position the glass marble over the image the way you want it (figure A) and trim the image to fit the back of the marble.

    2. Glue the image onto the back of the marble and let dry.

    3. Trim a piece of felt to the size of the marble and then glue it onto the back of the marble and let it dry.

    4. Glue trim around the outside edge of the marble and felt (figure B).

    5. Glue a pin back onto the top half of the back of the marble (figure C) so that the weight of the marble is properly supported.

    Variations:

    Here are three other ideas for using your decorated flat-backed marbles:

    1. Cover a barrette with a piece of ribbon then apply a small marble prepared the same way.

    2. Create a loop on the back of the marble by gluing a folded piece of trim onto the upper edge of the back of the marble and then glue a small piece of trim over the two ends to finish it off (figure D) . Thread a long string through the loop to make a necklace.

    3. Glue an image on the back of a small marble and then glue a magnet directly onto the back of the image.
