Platt's inspiration comes from things she sees while walking along the streets of her city or from the beauty of nature. Her greatest challenge is translating those visions into wearable art.

Sharon Platt's hobby is the realization of a lifelong dream: creating jewelry. After taking a class at a local community center, Platt learned that there's more to silversmithing than she once thought! - Platt begins by carving, bending and wrapping small pieces of wax into the desired design.
- To cast the silver, Platt takes the wax model to her local community center. There she creates a mold that will be filled with molten silver.
- A centrifuge melts the weighed silver and forces the liquid into the mold.
- Finally, a high-temperature kiln is used to solidify the piece.
